. 14 years old son 's class was the only class chosen to participate in a new school program. They were asked to go school once a week earlier for one to one tutoring by another fellow classmate. The aim is to improve their grade as he is placed in one out of 3 elite class. When the students asked the teacher why they were chosen, the answer given was they did not get all A in their last term examination. Worst still, if their grade deteriote after this programe, they will be punish. He was furios when he got home, Elder son who had just finished his upper secondary in the same school and attending college while waiting for his SPM results cool him down and explained to him the benefits. He had in fact volunteer to do the same and submitted his name and passed some written test. He had however suggested that teacher is encourage to tell the benefits and punishment should not be given but certificate of appreciation or attendance be given to those who have improve their grade. Isn't it a better way to encourage our teens to do well?
